In Vietnam, one of the really popular things for tourists to do is to fire an AK-47 on 
the "Tunnels of Cu Chi" excursion. I took a bunch of American college students 
there in May; we had a great time firing them--they make an incredible amount of noise. 
The barrels were so worn that you couldn't hit anything with them, though; the barrels 
were so worn they were almost certainly used to shoot at (and kill American soldiers 40 
years ago. None of the American students ever stopped to think about that, until we got 
back to class to discuss it.
