[lit-ideas] additional thought

Hi, again!

I forgot 2) for this part:

EY: Will my fellow liberals prefer to have Bush fail (as Paul Stone
thinks) rather than let Iraqi freedom win? If we do prefer to see
Bush fail, won't his failure be OUR failure? If Bush fails, why do
my fellow liberals think that they live on a special reservation
insulated from all the repercussions of history?

MB: No. I think the two scenarios that I would prefer are:

1) we go back to the discarded Plan A (with ...

but forgot to say:

the other scenario I would prefer would be

 2) That we stop looking at what and who 'fails' -- when we do this (and I
think we ALL are doing this--whether pro or anti- Bush) - we are NOT looking
at what the outcome we want should be...

(Not that I have all the answers--I do not and know that very well--but
would prefer to see the hearts heading towards a different direction than
focusing on Bush foreign policy no matter which side one's heart is on...)

I am guessing that many other cities/states have heard the phrase that was
once (in the KC area, anyway) on the lips of almost ANYONE dealing with
decision-making. It has caused so many kids, for example in the KC area to be
immunized and reporting by television stations, etc... It's a bit like in
the
book I'm reading which is talking about how there are more and more companies
who are seeing 'success' by looking at the duel aspects within decision-making
as 1) impact on society 2) impact on company

"Is it good for the children?" The idea was that every decision any
organization/company/business/government agency made needed to have that
question
answered [affirmatively <g>]. (Yes, Julie--wouldn't it be wonderful if our
current governor had heard this...!!)

So...Is it good for the Iraqis? What would be the pros and cons of our
leaving right away? What would the impact, long-term, be on *each* member of
society there? Each nation-state in the world?

So--if for some reason, Plan A would not be possible and/or we left ...
whether it was because the Iraqis/world opinion/American society or others
said
enough is enough/Republicans decided they'd never keep control of Congress if
they didn't leave OR because by some (remote) miracle {<wry look> I'm trying
to work on my attitude problem with disbelief in this possibility--but okay,
I'm working with it, here...] Bush's methods DID accomplish a vibrant and
life-giving society for EACH member of its nation--we should be focused on "Is
it good for the Iraqis?"

and liberal and conservative/Pro or Anti Bush person can then focus on
whether or not the ends justified the means, sure--. Debate and conversation
is
extremely healthy!

But, I also would desire within Plan B that deep down, I really hope that
ALL would be simply THRILLED to be able to FINALLY be hearing from Iraqis that
Life Is Good.
