What are "inappropriate behaviors" based in?
I meant the term to refer to the judgments by psychologists and
psychiatrists about observed behavior. Some behaviors are deemed
appropriate to a given situation, some are not. Such judgments of
inappropriateness might lead to the diagnosis that one is paranoid or
schizophrenic or psychotic or depressed or manic or intoxicated or
disoriented or suffering from dementia or just plain loony. Whether those
judgments have any validity is way beyond the scope of my learning, but I
suspect that generally they're pretty accurate as touchstones go.
