[lit-ideas] Re: Word Origin Question

Point (sore) conceded. I have the Oxford Universal, the Shorter Oxford, the Century Dictionary and Cyclopedia, six editions of Webster, my grandfather's Nuttall's (there's a song in that phrase, no?) but not the thing I really need--that's at work and if I go in today people will have matters that need attending to and I'll never finish this evening's talk.

One day I hope to come across a reasonably priced complete Oxford.

When will JLS be out of the swimming pool, does one suppose?

What? David Ritchie, famed collector of reference materials and
encyclopedias doesn't have an OED??? I have difficulty believing that. I myself have a rather difficult to use OED. It's not at all suitable for a weak-eyed fellow like myself but it is an OED; so I'll have to give myself
an extra point in our competition.
