[lit-ideas] Re: Wednesday Poem

I lean back, close my eyes, wish there were some surprise
ending, middle really, that I could imagine for all my friends who feel
stuck in their work and lives,
you know, the Dante thing,
the middle passage everyone of a certain age
once and now
had and has eyes on,
the way out,
with grace,
or Beatrice.

Suddenly it came to me,
just like it did Coleridge...
I could found a company to make caverns...
no, a company called Wonderment,
which would make...
a mint.

No one could resent this,
and no one would need meetings and management.
A simple mint,
that would go down the consumer gullet
like herrings in a Pelican,
smoothly,
sans friction,
small rewards in and of and for and by themselves.
Brill.

Like Altoids.
Oh feck.
Someone's been there before me.

Wonder Mints:
not coming to a store near you,
soon.
