I teach such a course, until recently called "Straight Thinking and Argument." The name was changed after the gender studies people objected to the 'straight' part.

As opposed to gay thinking and gay argument? Even if it's "straight from the heart"? What a queer mishmash of language.

How do they feel about Nietzsche's _The Gay Science_? Perhaps they feel they are conducting it?

(Kaufmann makes a point in the translator's introduction that "la gaya scienza" refers to the troubadours of Provence--that combination of knight, singer, and free spirit.)
