This one's far shorter. I love "hot-blooded jauds."
Proud to be a Scot
Proud to be a Scot! For why?
What special benefit, or merit
Is mine compared wi' what the men
In ither countries can inherit?
The pride o'independence, man,
The wale o' sense that mak's ye thrifty,
The gales and rains that mak' ye strong,
And mair than that--ye've got the "Giftie."
But there are men wi' stronger limbs,
And keener sicht, and he'rts mair cheerie,
In lands afar where there are nae
Black hills and skies to mak' them dreary.
They ha'e their loves, hot-blooded jauds,
Wha see nae sin in naked lovers,
They sing, they dance, and dinna wear
Their he'rts between thick bible covers.
Would that no' be a better life
For me than bidin' in Kinedder,
Soaked to the skin maist o' the year,
And weak o'stomach, lungs and bledder?
And if the "Giftie" is ordained
Where e'er you're born, does it no tally?
Guid sakes, wha kens, I micht ha'e been
The Rabbie Burns o' Wally-Wally!
