I've read one David Lodge novel, Paradise News. (Yes,
I do sometimes read novels, though less and less over
the years.) It was 'reasonable' but I would now say
nothing special. The business of culture vs. nature
seemed a bit overstrained and academic on the way, but
in the end the purported vindication of common sense
(fitting Lodge's own decision to leave the academia, I
would guess) also feels somewhat disappointing.
O.K.
