Andreas: With the USA in a corner, other countries would likely join in to get further concessions from the USA. The Russians, Venezuela, and Nigeria could also shut off the oil.

The result? Oil prices at $200-400/barrel; gasoline prices at $25-50 per gallon (or about $600 to fill up your gas tank), and fuel rationing.

Isn't it interesting that the path to arming Saddam, allowing Saudi Arabia to Wahhabi-ize their population, and all those other really stupid and tragic technology transfers were "good for international trade"? That even after the Gulf I sanctions on Saddam, the black market in oil continued to flow? That American parts of this, French support in that, German assistance in whatever--all the little baby steps toward nuclear annihilation went forward smoothly and greased the wheels of globalism?

Yet attempting to prevent a nuclear Iran will make everything grind to a halt? Will it really?
