Guantánamo detainee resurfaces in terrorist group
By Robert F. Worth

BEIRUT: The emergence of a former Guantánamo Bay detainee as the deputy leader of Al Qaeda's Yemeni branch has underscored the potential complications in carrying out the executive order that President Barack Obama signed that the detention center be shut down within a year.

If you read the article, note that the US may end up paying the impoverished Yemeni government half the expense of rehabilitating all the poor Yemeni victims of Bush's evil Cuban stockade. Plus the US has to provide almost half the irony and sarcasm.

Meanwhile Sen. Murtha wants all Gitmo campers shipped to PA so we can build a new prison made entirely of pork barrels. That should hold 'em. No one I know has ever seen a pork barrel, so bumping into one while trying to escape could be a very unsettling experience. Then there's the halal issue.

Ideas welcome. Perhaps a detention center model that combines a penitentiary with a zoo to defray expenses? Flyover families lined up to "See a Real Al-Qaeda Detainee" at $10 a head. We're certainly too early in the rehabilitation process to suggest a prison/petting zoo. Omnia exeunt in mysterium.
