And yet a question cannot be ignored by the philosophically serious: Was he
treated with the respect that is his due as a person (end-in-itself) or was his
humanity and dignity violated by his trial and/or execution? If the latter,
then surely we have unintentionally provided him with a posthumous victory ...
for time immemorial. That is to say, we've simply postponed the problem for our
children to cope with. (Kant ... noch ein mal.)
Ah well, back to our seasonal festivities. Kalinka,Kalinka, Kalinka, maya!
Returning to a disappointing but expensive 12 yr. Pittyvaich (nice colour,
intriguing spice, a whiff of pears, but body much too light; overly-sherryish
and perfumy with insufficient malty chewiness and awfully low esteriness;
little if any excitement lingering on the tongue as a finish,) Walter O.
