Oddly, football, for some reason, is not a 'silly-season' sport.

I support 'silly season' sports which are:

--- Cowes Regatta -- on the Isle of Wight of course -- the sailing to
Hampshire (although Isle of Wight was officially part of Hants.) and back.

-- Henley Regatta -- more of a joke, since the traffic (on the water) is
impossible.

-- Oxbridge Regatta -- to watch only, from a good appointed bridge. The
Thames is perfect for rowing and Oxford has been winning for the last three
decades.

-- Trout-fly fishing -- in Sussex. This is part of the 'silly' season.

-- Horse-riding after a little furry mammal (which we will not kill). Yes,
I'm such a 'berk'!

-- Croquet at Hurlingham -- on the water. Some like cricket, but croquet's
my hob.

-- Cricket at Lord's.

-- Rugby at Twickenham. This _is_ football to me. It's "Rugby" football.

-- Tennis at Wimbledon.

-- POLO at Windsor (<-------- the one I support MOST -- by far!)

-- Horse racing at Ascot, Derby and Liverpool. It's true that the sport is
on the jockey, but in the old days, the aristocrats rode horses too.

-- punting at Eton -- to watch mainly.

-- I don't think I'm forgetting one. The rest of the sports are _otiose_.
