I read an article a few days ago which includes a link to what the Big Bang
sounded like. It was both proposterous and way cool.

Subject: [lit-ideas] The Cosmic Blues?

Two consecutive sentences from HARPER'S WEEKLY REVIEW (June 15, 2004)

http://www.harpers.org/WeeklyReview2004-06-15.html

    An astronomer in Virginia reconstructed
the sound of the Big Bang and discovered
that it sounded at first like a "majestic"
major third chord and then changed to a
"sadder" minor third. Ray Charles died.

A.A. I could not find this article through this link. I heard part of a
discussion on string theory recently to which this relates. Apparently strings
are, depending on which of five theories one chooses, vibrating bits of energy
which exist in up to 12 diimensions. The point was made that the vibrating
energy is music. Scientists refer to it as the "mind of God." No one to my
knowledge has documented specifically what music it is, and how it transcends
dimensions. It makes me wonder what kind of music deaf people hear.

Someone was telling me that Ray Charles learned to play the piano by reading
Braille. He would use one hand to read the music and the other to play. They
he would switch hands. Eventually he learned each hand well enough to put
them together. I'm sure he would have no trouble distinguishing majestic
majors
from sad minors. I wonder if that's what Harpers was getting at.
