This is a non sequitur. One can both understand the importance of fighting this enemy and argue for the withdrawal of troops. For instance, one can argue that with the fall of Saddam and the installation of a democratically-elected government, the best way of fighting this enemy, now and in Iraq, is to turn the fight over to the Iraqis. It will be the Iraqis who are best equipped to identify 'the enemy' and it will be the Iraqis who are best able, with support from the U.S., to isolate and destroy 'the enemy'. One may disagree with this argument, but it demonstrates the logical error in claiming that the call for the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq evidences a lack of understanding concerning the importance of fighting this enemy.
