Does "negative space" in a painting "exist?" Is it a waste of time to contemplate this absence?

If one definition of God is the "negation" or "negative" of all finite things, does it makes as much sense to
consider God as it makes to consider negative space in a painting?

Is he? Has she told you.

Surely it's a waste of time contemplating the nature of something you can't know exists. Or is that the domain of philosophy?
