[lit-ideas] Re: TUESDAY'S FORCAST

Robert pointed out: "...it's going to be ten degrees COOLER than that in
Fresno. "

ck: I checked that, too, figuring that it had to be 116 --the temperature in
Fresno the day I moved there. But nooooo. It's hotter here today than in
Eastern Oregon, for god's sake. Hot spells, they told me. Yeah right. Those
charming skylights in my cabin (five of 'em, count 'em, five) turn this
place into a convection oven. It's like living in a blizzard of damning
white light. The previous tenants undoubtedly coined the term "cabin
fever." Even the shades are white. Meanwhile, in dusty horrible Fresno,
it's in the 90s. ("Warm," as they say there.) An outside temperature of more
than 100 degrees is not acceptable.

I subsist on streaming video, being too hot in the head to read. Saw
_Hamsun_. Anyone else here? Von Sydow plays Knut. Mr. Hamsun, since you
claim to have been utterly unaware of Nazi tactics, which part of Naziism
appealed to you? Or were you simply, simplistically betting on Hitler
because you believed he'd restore Norway's autonomy?

Anyway, Norway looked nice and cool in this film. David's onto something.
