[lit-ideas] "Socrates Wounded"

"Socrates
Wounded." Here, Socrates gets hung up in a thicket, and rather than
perish as he is overrun by the enemy, uses all his rhetorical power to
rally his troops to come back and fight.?
?

The point seems to be that Socrates' military honor is spurious,

Thanks for the lead, Yost.

Sounds like an interesting story to practice my German, "Sokrates Wundt" I
expect.

Anyway, yes, there are _many_ spurious things about Socrates. Actually, there
are many spurious things about sperm and Speranza, as Geary would have it (he
goes by rhymes).

There's rather something 'sick' (if not 'suck') about Sok-rates.

I never understood him. Or the glorification of his work by ALL my philosophy
tutors. I always found him too ugly to even care for what he said!

In any case, I was irritated, and still am, by all that 'bullshit' if you
excuse me the Americanism of ALKEBIADES. He was _so in love_ with Socrates,
that it hurts.

Apparently, Socrates was his _tutor_ (Alcibiades's) in this Spartan sense that
is the only one that makes sense (for we don't want to buy all that BS about
the duality sema-soma, body/soul that Plato bought from Orheos) and THIS ONLY
shows how superior Aristotelian functionalism is.

Now the Battle of Salamis it was but indeed I cannot figure Socrates on the
battle ground, and there was no draft there, so we have to suppose he _wanted_
to be there.

Geary notes the etymological connection between Salami and Salamis, and perhaps
should have something to report on that field.

Also, Helm -- Cannot just imagine Socrates with a helm and shield!

Cheers,

J. L.
