BUT SERIOUSLY...
Sometimes the serendipitous
coming together of
ordinary words
can unexpectedly
cause in me
quite suddenly
a frisson
that quite undoes me
much as
a surprise kiss
on the back of my neck
can make of me
a total wreck.
I have dedicated my life
to persiflage,
to the relentless undoing
of the gravitas
I was saddled with
by God-intoxicated women
wearing desert dress
circa the years BC.
But sometimes still I hear
in irreverant witty banter
God's laugher
rippling like
mockingbirds
singing
on a Southern evening.
