It seems to me that talking about "the modern self"

Hi,
Okay, I wish I would have suggested how it would be helpful for me to have
one main group leader's list of questions-- But, oh, well! There is so much
information in all of the posts so far that it is going to take me forever to
go through them!
I just got the book today (we have one copy in all of our thirty branches!
In our Raytown branch, no less! Who would have thought?)
I am still working through the preface--did read, as Omar did, some reviews
prior to getting it from our ILL office.
Doesn't he define what he means by the Self, though? This is sad - I'm only
in the preface and *think* I have read something but didn't make a
note...and maybe I'm mixing it up with a different book...
Hopefully, as I go through these posts, I will come to the one which has the
list of comments/questions clearly stated for us to discuss--that's how I
have done other group reads online. Granted, for us, it might not work as
well--we do so often have so much to say that as we post comments, they take us
off on other sidebars--and they are often as interesting as the question/answer
sessions might be. (though one way to keep the ones who are not reading the
book interested is to pose commentary, questions and letting those who are
not reading the book to post to the questions...)
Though perhaps in true Lit-Idea manner, we are just posting comments as we
think of them...(?) (I've still many many posts to go through--our new director
has not wasted any time making some major changes...mostly all good so the
extra busyness is, at least, positive. Oh, and I will get a new person in my
department! I've only been asking for us to provide a books-by-mail or
library-by-mail to the homebound for about five years. We are going to do
this
now! And, I get to develop procedures, etc. [almost done] as he said it was
my
idea <g>. But--I need a catchy name for this -- our neighboring system uses
HomeConnect so we cannot use that...Ideas are welcome...)
Kind and best regards to all,
Marlena in Missouri
