Can you imagine a line more unlikely to pass muster with an editor in
search of the next Grisham, Ludlum or Rowling than, "It is a truth
universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good
fortune must be in want of a wife"? Let alone one working for a small
"literary" press? After all a single man in possession of a good
fortune might be gay, bi, enthralled by a guru, a 90-year old drug
addict, or content to be single. Assuming desire for a wife, not at
all plausible.

John (tongue in cheek)
