I'm currently very distracted by a coincidence: I learned, simply by typing her name into Google, that the mother of my primary school friend had died. I also learned that her full name was Jean Esme Oregon Cooke. Born in South London. Father had a hardware shop in Blackheath. What on earth was the Oregon connection?
