Andreas writes,

"In the last few years, I've began to think that linear progression
(1, 2, 3, etc.) is a
local phenomenon, useful only for minor things. Practically everything
that goes on around us in nature is logarithmic."

This is an important observation. "Logarithmic" is another word for
"Change is exponential; it typically follows power laws where the
exponents in question are greater than two." Failure to realize this
is one of the central reasons our linear projections are so often
wrong.
