The Illusionist: Period piece, set in Vienna, apparently early 1900s. Beautiful sets, good photography, excellent in the minor details. The story however is somewhat standard: long setup and suddenly, there's a trick turn that explains everything. Similar to Sixth Sense and Crying Game. It's okay. It's better on DVD rental; you won't feel that you paid too much.

Little Miss Sunshine: If you hated high school, you'll love this movie. A very funny satire about American life. The family is totally dysfunctional, but, well, they're just like every family, so how could they be dysfunctional? Dad is a motivational speaker for 9 steps for success; son is a rebellious moody teenager who won't speak; uncle is a suicidal gay Proust scholar; grand-dad is hooked on cocaine and porn; little daughter enters beauty contests for six-year olds. See? Totally normal neighbors. Lots of very funny scenes. Good character development. You get to know the characters and their lives. And somehow, they all get along with each other.

Fawlty Towers: (On DVD via Netflix). Watching the series again. Brilliant British comedy with John Cleese.
