I agree. A thought that comes immediately to mind is that they are expressing righteous indignation about these cartoons while at the same time condoning suicide bombings, bombings of women and children, beheadings etc. But wait, someone will say. Not all those protesting are engaged in bombings and beheadings. Good point, but how seriously can I take their protests when they don't also protest these bombings and beheadings. From a Western perspective they don't have their heads screwed on straight and I don't see that it does much good to pretend to see things their way. I agree with those who say many of the cartoons were in poor taste, but burning embassies and killing people is in poor taste as well. But wait, the person says again, who are you to say what is an over-reaction for a Muslim? Another good point. But the modern world is pluralistic. Either they come forward into our world or we go backward into theirs. Marking time by pretending to go along with their outrage will only delay the day of reckoning -- it seems to me. This is only anecdotal but since the Danish cartoons I have noticed a glut of cartoons about Islamists in my local paper and some magazines I've received. It seems to be a Western tradition to poke fun at things people think are too serious to laugh at.
