While handing out propaganda brochures on behalf of the dancing and
presenting the prizes, I missed this important event. I can,
however, report that both girls won prizes--J. in what was probably
her farewell appearance--and that E. got into the main stage dance
off, which the World Champion (from Canada) won. Once again the
heavy athletes broke the big caber and had to substitute the 120 lb
one. Only two athletes managed to turn this "small" one. The massed
bands playing "Green Hills," "Amazing Grace" and "Scotland the
Brave," once again brought tears to my eyes. Nothing changes;
everything does.
