[lit-ideas] Re: Joy and Satisfaction...

You're right, of course, it is Donald, not Donal. But then I was born
right, or at least Wright -- Raight/Raiught if you listen to the
Galwegian crowd. Thus, I can get away with whatever the hell I like.

But surely you would find no fault if Silly Wizard sang Donal (instead of
Donald) McGillivray. That troosers shite is crap, sure as, well, shite,
but I've yet to uncover a truly bad song in the recorded Wizard
repertoire.

But, lament that 'proper' Celtic spelling is the result of Anglo scholars
trying too bloody hard. Let the ruddy 'H' (read haitch) that renders
the immediately antecedent consonant silent rot in the bog. Bodhran is
either bō'rän' or bou'rän allowing for regional dialects and all that
rot; neither bō'drăn, nor bŏ'drăn are acceptable

thinking Silly Wizard may not be so rotten a name,

I googled and it is 'Donald'. (What a fkg relief). That is not my
name, so I insist. That song has therefore no relevance to me and
those of my name-ilk. My name's proper Celtic and not some
  bastardised Anglisization.

  Donal or Dohnmaill
  McEvoy or MacGiollabhureirdi
(obviously I could be just making these gaelic versions up - it's
what Celts tend often to do; you can call me Siobhann btw and a fan
  of Seamus Jouycceeus)
