Sudden Jihad Syndrome is like murderous road rage, only green in more than one sense. But let me go out on a limb here and assert that evil is bad.
Think of the Michael Douglas character in Falling Down as a white, male, phallogocentric, patriarchal, hegemonic, yadda-yadda-yadda Judith Butler version of sudden jihad. We know the dynamics. Instead of listening to the Mad Prophet of the Airwaves, opening a window, and shouting that you are "mad as hell and not going to take it anymore," you listen to another mad prophet, accept Wilde's advice, and insist that either that wallpaper goes or you do.
Art Schopenhauer was another victim of sudden jihad when he brandished a pistol and chased the otherwise-unknown gossiping woman. His ideology held that intelligence was inversely proportional to tolerance of noise, and he acted accordingly.
Sudden Jihad. Though we hear about it allah time, it's surah not to be scoffed at. One would have to be nuts to ignore crazy people whose ideology requires that they exterminate unrepentant Infidels. Lindisfarne folk surely watched for Vikings approaching their tidal island. Bad guys wear many hats seems to be the moral.
