Simon: Rather than the BBC's purpose, this is your subjective viewpoint. Perhaps even your paranoia.
Eric: Still not understanding me. Who "leaked" the (non)story and why? You think I'm out to attack the Beeb. That's possibly your paranoia. I like the Beeb and read it / watch it often. I'm asking about the "diplomatic sources" who have "told the BBC" -- check the article in question -- and what their motives were. Don't get all Captain Queeg on me.
Simon: Now, I take it you're streaming Strauss.Eric: No, I was listening to light old Lehar -- EMI-Classics (CD 7243 5 74735 2 1) -- through the crummy computer speakers powered by Windows Media PLayer 11. Yecchh. Like straining a vanilla cannoli through a rusty screen door.
Listened to Soft Machine in college. Also had a brief interest in ambient music and composers like Gorecki and Reich. Not quite for me. If I want straggling pieces that splay landscapes of subjectivity, there's always Bruckner or Vaughan Williams.
