Brian writes, citing Ed Morrisey's blog
http://www.captainsquartersblog.com/mt/archives/009497.php
Iran announced tonight that the 15 British sailors captured off the
coast of Iraq would get indicted as spies.
What Brian neglects to say is that this blog is dated 24 March. It is now
29 March (here on the West Coast of the US), and no British Marines have
been indicted. The implication that this is timely news--or news at all--is
unfortunate.
Britain and Iran are still exchanging pro forma demands, expressions of
outrage and dismay, and generally posturing as one would expect governments
to do. There has been no mention of this fictional Iranian threat by
the BBC, CNN, the Guardian, the New York Times, or the Lake Oswego Review.
I'm sure that if the Iranians were even thinking of violating the
Geneva Conventions, Alberto Gonzales would fly to Tehran immediately
to reason with them.
