Or maybe not. I would rather be poor in Canada than poor in Nigeria. And I would rather be poor anywhere in the world now than poor anywhere in the world 200 years ago. The general trend has been to an improving world-wide living standard and nothing suggests that this is going to "disintegrate". One can, of course, imagine all sorts of apocalyptic outcomes but I am not clear as to the point of such an exercise.
