The "hate club" in a nutshell. Who benefits from the hostility? Isn't it a 
form of disenfranchisement? An issue is no longer regarded on its merits, but 
on 
which "hate club" supports or detracts it.
Doesn't this lock us all into absolute positions, where "our guy" cannot 
possibly do anything wrong, and the other cannot possibly do something right?
