The issue is the overall debt caused by a combination of generally hugely bloated government since Clinton left, coupled with tax cuts to the wealthiest. Under Clinton, SS and Medicare were funded for decades and Medicare wasn't being looted. Government was pay-as-you-go and more productive. I read somewhere (this I won't vouch for but it sounds right) that income tax was begun in this country to pay off the Civil War debt. Subsequent generations will have to pay off the current debt. Humans love scapegoats for complex issues. Currently the scapegoats are Baby Boomers and Clinton. > yrs, > andreas > www.andreas.com > > ------------------------------------------------------------------ > To change your Lit-Ideas settings (subscribe/unsub, vacation on/off, > digest on/off), visit www.andreas.com/faq-lit-ideas.html ------------------------------------------------------------------ To change your Lit-Ideas settings (subscribe/unsub, vacation on/off, digest on/off), visit www.andreas.com/faq-lit-ideas.html
