[lit-ideas] Re: Fwd: Pinch Me ...a message from Michael Moore

"America elected a black President." Oh really? Not just a president?

If there was no societal gap between races, there would be no difference between a white and a black president. If blacks did not make up a disproportionate share of the prison population, if they did not make up a disproportionate share of the poorest, if they did not make up a disproportionate share of gang murders, if they did not make up the a disproportionate share of many social ills, then the election of a black president would be no big thing. If you can show that not one white voter chose McCain because Obama is black or that so many blacks voted for Obama because he is black, then it would be no big thing.

This is a big thing.
