>>Can we learn how to give each other the backs
of our hands without slaps in the face? How could
we go about that?
No backhands without palms of hands.
When Mike replied to my incendiary post with, "I
cannot imagine forgiving white people. Any white
person, even me," I remember that he had
previously written, "Our values of human dignity
and equal rights, though frequently violated, are
of the highest aspirations. I want this country
to prosper and succeed according to those values."
He reads like one hand washing the other, which is
an honest thing.
It's also good to remember
that I am falling
That I am the reason
And that my words are the garment of what I
shall never be
Like the tucked sleeve of a one-armed boy.
