[lit-ideas] From the Guardian

This is not Richard Heinberg, but Richard Heinberg talks of our quest now to go
to Mars as typical of the last magnificent statue of a  mighty civilization
before it goes down.  This article from the Guardian is interesting.  I've
heard it before but it's worth reading.  Rory Carroll ponders the Maya and asks
why we think we're so immune to that which brought down other
civilizations.  Nobody's saying today or tomorrow, but probably this century.
