Judith: "little Turk' rings a bell, but I can't
work out why.
I recall reading about Chomsky's linguistic
theories being challenged by "the Young Turks."
The sense was of a classic neo-Freudian
generational conflict enacted in the academy:
Young Turks arising to smash the idols of the
older generation. Thus does one intellectual fad
replace another.
Also recalling the PDQ Bach opera, "The Abduction
of Figaro,"
