CAMILLE PAGLIA'S EASTER BONNET
When Jesus played the Bard card,
pre-quoting Shakespeare,
"Et tu, Brute?", he felt no fear.
Pontius Pilate washed his hands then sat down to eat.
Rules are rules, pass the meat.
Two days later, there he was kissing Magdalene's feet.
Who knew? Jesus, the indestructible Jew!
Saul turned to Paul and said:
Better to marry than burn in hell,
better yet to be dead.
and virgin still as well.
How Jesus would weep were he not asleep
to see sweet Spring turned into a guy thing.
Neverthess, the jonquils sing
of seeds that out lex
all ritual rules
with glorious sex.
