??? The Importance of Being Doris
??? DORIS. Region of Greece.
??? SICILY, cf. CAECILIA, fem. name
Helm:
"JL expanded my comments on the Syracusan War to include the larger
Peloponnesian War, but it was Syracuse that I found most depressing."
Don't!
After all, perhaps it did teach Athens a lesson.
I'm interested in what the Germans call "hoch klassikal", i.e. high classical,
i.e. 480-323 B. C. So that's what's _eternal_ about Greece. It was the time
when time stopped. How bad could the Peloponnesian War have been that it
allowed for the 'miracle' we call Greece?
Just a thought (Actually, for Frege, who counts 'thoughts' per number of
propositions, that's 21 thoughts!)
Cheers,
JL
