Sure, if anyone were actually considering sending troops into Iran, that would be totally loony.

The question is whether to bomb Iran's nuclear weapons production facilities--not at all, to bomb now, or to wait and bomb after they have invested more in their weapons production facilities.

One of the pressing questions is whether enduring Iran's attempts to strike back would be worse than a future with a nuclear-armed Iran. Some argue that tolerating Iranian counterstrikes would be worth it for a future without a nuclear armed Iran. Serious debates haven't started yet on that one.

Others have expressed real joy that Bush (or someone more clever than Bush) got the European-3 to try to negotiate with the Iranians. Now that the Europeans, especially the French, have tasted the bitter futility of attempting negotiations, they are more aware of the nature of the regime. The French, for example, who hardly ever agree with us on anything, are staunch supporters of the US diplomatic position now.
