Why do people keep talking about a watershed moment
when neither they nor I have any idea what that might be?
My watershed moment came about in college. Four friends
and I hiked through a watershed in winter. A tiny "lake
effect" had coated all the trees and ferns with ice. In
the strong sunlight, the ice-clad pines shone like
golden mirrors and their branches tinkled and snapped
in the north wind.
Yes it's all too easy to keep talking, though one wonders
what solace "an idea" might be to a watershed. (The
preferred
term in the press is "drainage basin.")
