[lit-ideas] Re: Could an academic discipline do this?

John, didn't mean to patronize. Sorry and glad you
didn't take offence. I was however trying to describe
points of view, and not different levels of computing
knowledge as such.

I am writing this from an iMac, kid brother had an
extra and I was without a laptop while chancing jobs.
Few minor irritations aside, I disagree with the
window manager on what maximize button is supposed to
do for example, I think it is OK. Still, what I really
love is being able to launch a terminal.

I do understand that there are lot of rather clever
integration features, and have a general idea of how
tricky they are to build, I just don't use any of
them. (And I find the effort ultimately doomed to
failure given what computing is nowadays...)

I think in terms of files and actions on files, more
abstraction layers on top of that, the more distracted
I am. I am just not in the target demographic.

Anyway, I have guests arriving and food the cook,
happy new year everyone!

Cheers,
