Probably a LOT, but I don't have the time to look it up.
Yeah, your Canadian murder statistic is down because all our timid draft
dodgers moved to Canada. Maybe you should send some of them to Britain.
Yeah, they couldn't take your mean streets so they came up here where they
knew it was lovely and amazing.
By the way, does the U.S. count it a murder if a home owner shoots an
assailant?
In many cases, it should be, but you guys have that "shoot first ask
questions later" self-dense clause that allows you to shoot a vandal or
robber who is LEAVING your house with a vcr, because god forbid he took 50
bucks from you... that bastard deserves to be dead for it. "He was going to
rape my wife after he loaded up his truck".
But factor in Andreas statistic that most murders are between spouses
and you might be less likely to be murdered in the U.S. than in Britain
if you didn't let your murderous spouse own a gun.
You know, it's not very funny, but this was one of my exact points a few
emails back. A whole lot of murders DO occur between acquainted assailants
and victims -- and my point, as I'm sure you either ignored it initially or
have forgotten it was, with guns, it's a lot easier to kill your
mate/friend and then regret it. You've really gotta WANT to do it if you
are restricted to household objects or a devious plan.
