When I was in Junior High School one of my teachers liked to regale us with
episodes from _The Education of H*y*m*a*n K*a*p*l*a*n_. Kaplan (who always
wrote his name as in the title) was an immigrant from eastern Europe who
encountered the vagaries of English grammar in his night school English
class. He proudly announced one night that he had solved the "it is me"/"it
is I" puzzle. He just wouldn't use either of them. Instead he'd always say
"It is Kaplan". End of problem.
