[lit-ideas] Re: American public opinion

ANN COULTER AND CHARLES DARWIN.
Coultergeist

Last week on the poisonous show "The Big Idea with Donnie Deutsch" Ms? Coulter reached the startling conclusion that because Bill Clinton hit on da ladies, he was actually a latent homosexual. The next night, Letterman did a great 'rebuttal' on behalf of swingin' Willie by saying "while the former president admits that he once told [Ann] Coulter he was gay, it was simply a polite excuse to explain why he wasn't hitting on her bony ass" Then they ended the message with "Bill Clinton: Only Gay when it comes to evil, crazy bitches"

she's evil, she's nuts, she's funny, she's smart, she's deluded, and, perhaps worstly, she's dangerously scary because, as the story that Helen cited points out, people actually BELIEVE what she is spewing,

I've read all her books, but didn't pay for any of them. Fortunately, her journalism is worse than Maureen Dowd's and evidently, anything before the advent of electronic search engines is a concept with which she is not au fait. Anyone who takes her seriously after seeing what she's all about is also nuts. The fact that her interrogators have difficulty poking holes in her outrage speaks more about the quality of the interviewers than it does about her ability to debate. The scariest thing is how downright ineffective most people who [reputedly] argue for a living are at doing it.

keeping an eye on the enemy,
