[lit-ideas] A Professional Student

That's not fair, R. Paul -- there was I  expecting an intelligent reply;
instead someone with the stopwatch. :(

Anyway, the issue W. O. brings up is a serious one.

I have heard the expression, "She is a professional student", derogatorily
meaning, 'she's been on campus for more than her share' or something.

The phrase, 'student' is possibly either idiotic or redundant, or otiose.
I claim that you cease to be a student when you die.

The phrase 'pro' is also otiose, especially as applied to 'prostitutes'.

In combo, as W. O. uses them, it's offensive.

Is a student 'professionally accountable'?

I re-read W. O.'s post and think he have meant that the student will be
accounted by a pro. But that's a different fish.

Cheers,
