Forse non manca nulla ma c'è qualcosa in più
posta l'output di "ifconfig -a" e "route -n"

Ogni distro ha un metodo per specificare le rotte di default.
Su ubuntu, in /etc/network/interfaces basta mettere:
auto wlan0
iface wlan0 inet static
address 192.168.0.51
netmask 255.255.255.0
gateway 192.168.0.50
wireless-essid ESSID
wireless-channel CHANNEL
wireless-key s:"PASSWORD"
