[linux-cirrus] 2.6.20-rcX kernel status

Hi ep93xx users !

I want to talk about kernel development for ep93xx.

All have seen the wonderfull work done by Lennert Buytenhek to bring core
ep93xx things upstream. Thanks very much. Works wonderfull.

I saw that with Lennerts work things would go better if things are upstream. I
think everyone agrees.

So lets discuss some kernel development status, what i have found out for now
what i think:

My development work can be found under:
https://dev.contec.at/dev/micro/micro9/LINUX/trunk/kernel/linux-2.6/patches/
which is mostly based on Lennerts drivers and things:

* patches from lennert

- which ep93xx- things need some work to bring to upstream/to work
from http://svn.wantstofly.org/kernel

* uart

-changing console dose not work on kernel boot
- RS422/485 how to implement

* crunch:

- don't know how exact crunch works with new kernel, does it work ?
- what is necessary to bring it working

* dma

-Lennert have done a dma patch
-which drivers should use it, is addional work necessary
-how to use it ?

* framebuffer

- I have a framebuffer patch for our displays in my queue but needs rewrite,
is from old kernels

* framebuffer - displays

- I have included our standard displays, hopefully i have time to add more ...

* framebuffer accel

nothing there

* touchscreen

- I have a touchscreen patch for our displays in my queue but needs rewrite is
from old kernels, changed to new driver model

* port f irqs

- how to handle them correct ?

* pcmcia

- i have a pcmcia patch from older kenels in my queue, but does not work

* pata

- driver from Alessandro Zummo in my queue change a little bit, but dose not
work until now

* sound ac97

lennert is working on ac97 but needs more work

* sound i2s

???

*ssp

never used

* 8x8 keymatrix

nothing there

so hopefully a lot of discussion will start...

please tell me what you think about that... maybe someone is also working on
new things, maybe someone has already newest drivers...

regards manfred
