[Linux-Anyway] Card swap?

Hey,
Most of my games either don't work, or the sound sucks on the
XP box. New games (even the Doom95 -- 1.9 works, but 1.8
doesn't) seem fine (naturally), but the older ones have trouble.
While all my favourite old dos games ~will~ work in XP, I can't
get the sound to cooperate. I've got a Via AC97, on-board chip
which will either make most of the game's set-up report a problem
with the dma channel (the 16-bit sound, I think), will get really
slow, won't play some of the sounds, or gets all crackley -- ~&~
the play is slow. Worse, I've even tried all of Via's drivers &
none work any better than any other.
So, as the motherboard has only pci (save the one agp) slot, &
I have the (uh) old (long -- uses the old, long, brown slot not
included on many newer mb's) Sound Blaster 16. Damn fine card
which works really well on older boxes, but won't work on the XP
box.
Anyone have a SB pci card they're willing to swap me?
Meph
