The latest release of liblouisutdml is now available on the downloads page of http://www.abilitiessoft.com The Java bindings have been tested and work as expected. Your compiler will need to be Java-aware, but you will not need Java itself. The C part of the bindinngs are built automatically by autotools. The Java part is not. If you have ant you can just type "ant" in the java subdirectory. If you do not, you can get a jar file by using basic Java commands. If you are not using autotools you can actually build liblouisutdml qnd its tools without the Java bindings. Note that the version of the liblouisutdml library in the recent release of BrailleBlaster is for Linux. Laura Eaves is working on a port to Windows. The major problem has been which compiler to use. Priting to the mac should involve simply running the Gnu autotools scripts, then coppying the libraries to the BrailleBlaster native/lib subdirectory. The nativeLavrarySuffix inBBIni.java will also have to be changed. This will soon be set automatically for the operating system. John -- John J.
