[LRflex] Re: was Canon 20D and Leica Glass - now CRACK

I'll second (and third) that!!

It can't be much more than a software tweak - do you think Canon would listen to us? - There must be thousands of people using off-brand lenses on Canon film and digital SLRs

So, here is what is needed.....

Someone to crack into the Canon firmware and make a version that eliminates that exposure compensation so the meter behaves the way it should. Any computer software engineers out there that are willing to take the challenge?????

I too have now been using a 20D since it came on to the market (and
before that, a 300D (Digital Rebel) that is still used as a back-up body.,

Canon is probably the most versatile DSLR platform there is for other
brand lenses (at least until 4/3 and micro-4/3 arrived).

I'm currently using Canon, Leica-R, Rollei QBM, Contax/Yashica, M42,
Tamron Adaptall and T2 mount lenses as "normal" lenses, older Canon
lenses with an adapter with a correction lens for infinity focus, and
Topcon/Exakta with non-infinity focus, as well as M36 (LTM) as
macro-lenses. I would also probably use Nikon and Pentax K lenses on it
if I had any.

Apart from problems with the exposure compensation system built in to
the EOS cameras that makes exposure inconsistent with other
brand/adapted lenses, I've found the camera to be more than adequate
what ever you put on the front of it.

Enjoy yourself, it's a great camera

Cheers

OK Flexers, to be true to this group's calling, I should get back on
track with Leica glass (rather than a Tamron zoom or a Rollei manual
focus lens)......so here's an older series with the 90mm Summicron-R
on a Canon 20D. This is a lens which I really like outdoors as well
as indoors with studio lighting:

Richard, I have toyed with the idea of upgrading to a Canon 5D to get
the full frame advantage, or a Canon 50D to get the bigger LCD display
and live view - but all of that is a luxury I can't justify right
now. Glad that there are others that have gotten or will be getting
many hours of enjoyment with the 20D, as David has in the past along
with George Bruckner as David pointed out, and you too in the future
Richard.
